Volunteer Opportunities

Serving the Lord in His Church

Do you have a desire to share your love of Christ with others? Below are just a few of the many ministry opportunities available at St. Maria Goretti. Please prayerfully consider these ministries and call the Religious Education Office at 271-8081 regarding any that you or someone in your family would either like to volunteer for or obtain more information on. Someone from the parish education office will contact you to discuss any areas of interest. Thank you!

Preschool Sunday Liturgy and Learning Hour: Teach, co-teach, or assist with various organizational tasks during the 9 a.m. Mass.

Religious Education, Grades 1-5: Teach, co-teach, be a class room aid, be a room parent (help coordinate parental involvement), or assist with administrative duties during the Monday (4:00-5:15pm and 6:00-7:15pm) class time.

Religious Education, Grades 6-8: Teach, co-teach, be a room parent (help coordinate parental involvement), or assist with administrative duties during the Wednesday (6:30-8:00 p.m.) class time.

Special Events (Youth Ministry) for Grades 6-8: Coordinate or chaperone retreats, social or service events.

Youth Ministry for High School Students: Teach, chaperone special events, help with retreats or assist with various organizational tasks. Sr. High meets twice per month on Sundays from 6:30-8:30 p.m. This is primarily a Confirmation preparation program for students in 9th and 10th grade, with Confirmation celebrated in the Spring of student's Sophomore year. Students in Grades 11-12 who have been confirmed are invited to special sessions throughout the year to continue faith development and share in social opportunities.

Childcare: Several opportunities exist:

  1. Provide childcare for children of parents teaching religious education on Mondays from 4:00-5:15pm and/or from 6:30-7:30 p.m.
  2. Provide childcare for small children of parents attending adult religious education classes or small Christian Communities.

This volunteer opportunity is especially good for teenagers and others of all ages who love kids.
