Musical Journeys

Musical Journeys
Program Description
Musical Journeys is a music education and literacy program for children, youth, and adults. Through in-person classroom based instruction, students will receive a musical education that will enhance their knowledge and ability to read music at a beginner to intermediate level.
As a program of the St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church Music Ministry, this program has been specifically designed to assist individuals in their ability to fully, actively, and consciously participate in liturgy. Utilizing familiar hymnody, chant, and workbook activities, students will graduate each level of this program feeling enabled and prepared to simply pick up a hymnal and sing any hymn or chant, in both modern and neumatic notation, at first sight!
Curriculum
Musical Journeys utilizes Module B: Musical Skills and Understanding of the Royal School of Church Music (RSCM) Voice for Life curriculum. For a specific listing of all topics that will be covered in this program, please click here. For those individuals who may be interested in current or future membership within the St. Maria Goretti Music Ministry, this course will serve as a perfect introduction to the musical concepts needed for a successful transition into the choral programs offered by the parish.
